Euclid Hospital is located on 17 acres along the Lake Erie shoreline, Euclid Hospital is home to one of the region's leading rehabilitation and orthopaedic centers. The 371-bed hospital offers a complete continuum of care: emergency services, acute and sub-acute care, and outpatient care. Founded in 1907 as Glenville Hospital, Euclid Hospital was constructed at its existing location in 1952.

Provides clinical services to patients, provides primary supervision for other clinical staff, manages performance improvement projects and provides educational services and performs work in a special capacity as assigned by Section Head.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluates communication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Interprets and reports test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
  • Provides counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and their families.
  • Determines therapeutic plan, including need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
  • Selects assistive speech devices to improve patient's communication.
  • Performs re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
  • Provides observations about hearing and other behavior to help determine need of other services.
  • Maintains records of all services.
  • Communicates results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employers.
  • Provides clinical supervision of other clinical and technical staff as requested or assigned by Section Head.
  • Maintains supervisory records.
  • Provides input into hiring decisions and evaluations of staff.
  • Performs clinical teaching of residents, medical students and others.
  • Prepares and delivers lectures and in-service presentations to department and other areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education:

  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Certifications:

  • Eligible for license from State Board of Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Holds Certification of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
  • Work Experience:

  • Minimum five years post Clinical Fellowship Year professional experience, two of which are at CCF(PH.D. in Speech Pathology/Science may substitute for CCF experience).
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
